UPDATE JUNE 2010

              IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I have just been awarded a prize for the best watercolour (actually a gouache/acrylic mixed media painting) at The Chelsea Art Societies 100th Anniversary Exhibition held at The Chelsea Town Hall from16th -19th June 2010.

The prize winner - Early Morning Essouria

Welcome to my web site that I have just updated with several pictures of the recent snow all of which were painted plein aire together with pictures from a recent trip to Holland and also some mixed media work following a trip to Cornwall in 2008. I was successful last year in getting a painting into the Royal Society of Marine Artists and I also had a picture selected for the Guildford Calender in 2009.Please feel free to browse my galleries where you will find a selection of my work.

I have been painting for twentyfive years with a small group of eminent artists and firmly believe that to mingle with fellow artists is of great benefit. The exchange of techniques and advice is generally advantageous and is one of the reasons that I regularly attend workshops and life classes

Until recently my preferred medium has been watercolour,I love the immediacy and unpredictability, but during the last 4-5 years I have been using oils.Recently I have been exploring the possibilities of mixed media which can give some very exciting results.

The majority of my work is either painted on site or developed from sketches. I do believe however, that sound drawing skills provide the basis of all painting, whichever the chosen medium. My work is loose realistic with subjects ranging from landscapes,marine/river scenes as well as portraits and life.I have painted extensively in France and Italy.

I am an exhibiting member at both Farnham( awarded highly commended prize for my picture of Mevagissey in April 2010 ) and Guildford Art Societies and have shown at the Royal Watercolour Society at Bankside and regularly at The Chelsea Art Society.I have also exhibited in France . .I have exhibited with The Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Gallery. I also exhibit regularly with Lincoln Joyce Fine Art at Great Bookham near Leatherhead.

I am a member of the Wapping Group of Artists who are a small group of no more than 25 who meet regularly during the summer and paint at various locations along The Thames and in London. They hold an annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries in February each year.

I have held a number of one man shows in Surrey and Hampshire and have paintings in many private collections in Europe and around the world.

I am now taking painting classes in Elstead British Legion Barn. If anyone is interested in join me then initially please use the Contact Form
